The GA dust seal is a metal-cased hydraulic wiper seal designed to scrape dust, sand, mud, and moisture from the piston rod surface before contaminants reach the primary rod seal. Featuring a rigid metal outer skeleton bonded to an elastic rubber lip, the GA seal serves as the first line of defense for hydraulic cylinders in excavators, loaders, and other heavy equipment operating in dusty environments. It does not provide high-pressure sealing but protects the main seal and extends its service life.

Product Overview
The GA dust seal (commonly known as an “external skeleton dust seal”) is a dustproof sealing element for reciprocating or rotary shafts. The suffix “GA” indicates a classic design with a metal external skeleton and a single dust lip. Unlike oil seals such as TC or TG that retain oil and provide high-pressure sealing, the GA seal focuses exclusively on contamination exclusion.
Core functions:
●Scrapes dust, sand, mud, and moisture off the shaft surface
●Prevents external contaminants from entering equipment
●Protects the primary oil seal (TC/TG type) from abrasive wear
●Extends overall sealing system lifespan
How It Works
The GA seal operates through a combination of contact scraping and elastic fit. During shaft reciprocating or rotary motion, the elastic rubber lip adheres tightly to the shaft surface, scraping away contaminants like a wiper blade. The rigid metal frame fits tightly with the housing bore, remaining stationary and ensuring effective dust removal. Scraped contaminants are discharged along the edge of the lip, preventing them from entering the sealing cavity.
The metal-cased design also prevents the seal from rotating with the shaft and eliminates the risk of blow-out or axial displacement during heavy shock loads.

Product Features
1. Rigid Metal-Cased Design
The steel skeleton provides structural rigidity, ensuring a press-fit, anti-displacement fit in open groove housing configurations. This prevents seal blow-out or axial displacement during heavy shock loads.
2. Excellent Dust Scraping
The single lip design exerts continuous radial contact pressure against the piston rod, effectively shearing away abrasive contaminants such as grit, water, and mud.
3. Material Options
●NBR: Standard material for mineral oil-based hydraulic systems, excellent resistance to petroleum oils and abrasion
●PU: Superior wear resistance, good low-temperature performance
●FKM: High-temperature resistance up to 220°C for aggressive environments
4. Protects Main Seals
The GA seal works as a sacrificial barrier, dramatically reducing abrasive wear on primary rod seals and preventing fluid contamination.
5. Firm Installation
The seal is press-fitted into an open-groove housing design, ensuring secure mounting. Proper installation requires a clean, deburred bore and light lubrication.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What is the difference between GA and TC oil seals?
A: GA seals are dedicated dust wiper seals that scrape contaminants off the shaft surface. TC seals are oil retention seals with a spring-loaded primary lip and dust lip, designed to prevent oil leakage. GA seals do NOT provide oil sealing and must be used together with a main oil seal.
Q: Is the GA seal suitable for high pressure applications?
A: GA seals are designed for very low pressure (0–0.1 MPa) applications. They provide dust protection only and should not be used in high-pressure sealing cavities.
Q: What materials are available?
A: We offer NBR (standard, -20°C to +120°C), PU (-35°C to +100°C), and FKM (up to 220°C, for high-temperature environments).
Q: What is the maximum speed?
A: For reciprocating motion, the maximum speed is 2 m/s.
Q: How is a GA seal installed?
A: GA seals require an open-groove housing design. They are press-fitted into place using an arbor press or uniform driving tool. Always ensure the housing bore is clean, deburred, and lightly lubricated before installation.
Q: What are your payment terms?
A: We accept T/T (bank transfer), L/C, MoneyGram, Western Union, and cash.
