Product Overview
The HBTS buffer ring (also known as a step seal) is a high-performance hydraulic sealing solution used in combination with the main piston rod seal . Its primary function is to absorb shock and fluctuating pressures under high loads, isolate high-temperature fluids, and improve the durability of the primary sealing system .
The HBTS features a stepped profile that provides excellent dynamic and static sealing performance, making it an ideal choice for applications that require precision, durability, and efficiency .
How It Works
The HBTS operates through an O-ring activation mechanism . The PTFE sliding element forms the primary sealing interface with the rod. The NBR or FKM O-ring acts as an energizer, providing preload to maintain sealing contact under low pressure. As system pressure increases, the hydraulic fluid activates the O-ring, enhancing the seal’s contact force.
The conical surface structure reduces the contact area between the sealing lip and the working surface, thereby minimizing friction resistance . Relief grooves on the tapered surface allow for the release of back pressure, ensuring stable sealing performance .
